CIVIC ROOT ADVOCACY NPC

Amplifying Voices From Below, From Roots To Reform

About Us

Civic Root Advocacy is a civic engagement, democratic participation and public policy advocacy non-profit company dedicated to advancing equity, justice, and inclusive governance. We believe that public policy should be rooted in the voices, needs, and lived experiences of communities, and not just the interests of the powerful and politically connected few.

Through evidence-based research, civic engagement, and coalition-building, we influence policy outcomes that promote systemic change and advance social progress. Born out of the legacy of grassroots resistance, we are committed to ensuring that public policy in South Africa reflects the lived realities of its people

We work at the intersection of community organising, civic education, policy reform, and economic justice, amplifying public voices and holding institutions accountable to the values of the Constitution: dignity, equality, and justice for all.

Theory of Change

If communities have the knowledge, tools, and platforms to participate in policy-making, and institutions are held accountable through data-driven advocacy, and illicit economic practices are tackled through fair enforcement and policy reform, then South Africa will move towards a democracy that is inclusive, equitable, and economically just.
