Flagship Programme
Local Democracy Accountability (LDA) Initiative
The Local Democracy Accountability (LDA) Initiative is Civic Root's flagship democratic participation programme aimed at strengthening citizen engagement and accountability in local government. Implemented across local municipalities in South Africa, the initiative seeks to equip citizens with practical knowledge and tools to participate meaningfully in governance processes, engage elected representatives, and contribute to building more responsive and accountable municipalities.

The LDA Initiative is implemented in partnership with key democratic institutions and
stakeholders, including the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC), the South
African Local Government Association (SALGA), and other governance partners.
